Sri Bhagawad Ramanujacharya.
The first revolutionary for equality.
In 1017 CE, a young monk in South India climbed a temple tower in Tirukkottiyur and revealed the sacred eight-syllable mantra to a crowd of "untouchables" gathered below. His guru had warned him: "Share this with no one, or you will go to hell."
His answer became one of the most quoted lines in Indian spiritual history:
"If I alone am damned but countless others are saved, that is a fair exchange."
That single act made him the world's first declared revolutionary for human equality, 900 years before any modern equality movement. He named the so-called untouchables Thirukkulathar, "born divine." He brought them into temples.
He wrote nine scriptures including Sri Bhashya, the greatest commentary on the Brahma Sutras. He inspired the entire Bhakti movement; Kabir, Meerabai, Annamacharya, Thyagaraja all trace their spiritual lineage to him.
His guru, witnessing his compassion, renamed him Emperumanar; "you are greater than us." The title Bhagawad attached to his name marks the rarest recognition: that he reached an almost God-like stature in his lifetime.

— The Bridge
Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji.
The bridge between Ramanuja and our time.
Full honorific: Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji. "Pedda" means "the elder" in Telugu; distinguishing him from his successor, Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Chinna ("the younger") Srimannarayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji.
For nearly a century, Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji walked in the direct lineage of Sri Ramanujacharya as a Jeeyar; one of the rare monks authorized to carry the Sri Vaishnava tradition forward. He preserved scripture, conducted yajnas for the welfare of humanity, trained disciples, and held the line of teaching unbroken through one of India's most turbulent centuries. His most consequential act, for those alive today, was initiating a young scholar from East Godavari into monkhood, the disciple who would become HH Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji. The torch passed from elder to younger; the mission moved forward another generation.

The lineage, in our lifetime.
Full honorific: Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Chinna Srimannarayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji. Born November 3rd, 1956, in Arthamuru village, East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. Initiated into monkhood at a young age. Recognized as a Jeeyar, one of the rare authorized teachers of the Sri Vaishnava tradition, for over 45 years.
HH is described in scripture and by his disciples as "ever cheerful, ceaselessly active, unmindful of His bodily comforts but always concerned about others' welfare." His chosen mission: to revive Sri Ramanujacharya's vision of human equality, in our lifetime, by living it.
In 2022, the result of his decades-long yearning was inaugurated, the Statue of Equality in Hyderabad: 216 feet tall, the world's second-tallest sitting statue, honoring Sri Ramanujacharya's 1,000th birth anniversary. Not as a monument of the past, but as a declaration that the mission is alive.
In 2024, the Government of India conferred upon him the Padma Bhushan, the nation's third-highest civilian honor, recognition of fifty years of selfless service to humanity.
