Sri:mathe: Ra:ma:nuja:ya Namaha !
The depth and vastness of an ocean is difficult to comprehend. Yet, great joy is derived when we behold an ocean and this is experienced by one and all without any discrimination. Such is the nature of the Kalya:na Guna:s or auspicious qualities of our beloved and revered Sri Ra:ma:nuja.
Sri Ra:ma:uja, the founder of Visishta:dvaitha(Triune Monism) philosophy was a great A:ch:arya who was born in the year 1017 A.D in Sriperumbudur to Sri Kesava:ch:arya and Ka:nthimathi. This great a:ch:arya who opened the sacred manthra to all irrespective of gender, caste and creed, by proclaiming its esscence and meaning from atop a temple tower. He allowed admission of the downtrodden and harijans into the temple premises, for he always believed that all are worthy of God’s love. He was the greatest reformer, a great exponent of Vedas, a savior of vedic literature and traditions.
As a small boy, Ra:ma:nuja exhibited unparalleled brilliance. His gurus were astonished for his clarity and reasoning in interpreting the vedic hymns correctly. With his vision he figured out the three wishes of his a:ch:arya Ya:muna muni and fulfilled those tasks. He realized that temples as the main centers that can cater to the needs of all sections of society bridging the gaps between them. He believed a properly administered temple can cleanse the society of its evils.
He gave the Divine Discus and the Divine Conch to Lord Sri Ve:nkateshwara on Tirumala hills and established a wonderful system of temple adminstartion and tradition in Tirumala. He established 74 pi:ttha:s with great a:ch:aryas to carry on the lineage. He had been accepted by all a:ch:aryas since his appearance until contemporary a:ch:aryas as the bonafide guru. He lived for 120 years. Such is the glory of our A:ch:araya.
